Centering subway tile

I'll be tiling my backsplash. It's my first tiling job. How do I center above the stove and also under the window? Where do I start?

Lay it out on the floor with the actual spacers you will use. See where the cuts will fall. Move things around until you end up with a good layout and visually pleasing edge/corner cuts.

My tile guy is a perfectionist and he does this for every job. He does a dry run on the floor and then shows me how the cuts will look. We discuss the options and then adjust the layout.

My tile guy with 1/2 offset started by centering in the hood cavity and worked toward the ends; he dui the same on the other wall and centered on the sink. However, he checked what the size of the tile pieces would be in the cirners before he started.
