My established peonies have between 5-15 blooms/ plant. There’s not a 1:1 bloom to stalk ratio as most of those are leaves only. The blooms vary year to year and often the buds that form don’t fully develop. I’ve made the mistake of cutting too many blossoms off one year- that meant fewer blooms the following year.

Some varieties may have more blooms than others. And with the ever changing growth of other plants in my garden affecting sunlight to the peonies, I had fewer blooms last year. But the great thing about peonies is the plants can last generations- I have divisions that were my great grandmother’s from the late 1800’s!

Different varieties put out different numbers of blooms so it's hard to predict. If you know what variety you have there is a great database that you can look them up in and see if yours has sidebuds or is known to be "floriferous". http://www.paeo.de/navigation/hilf_en_1oben.html  The Peony Database is an alphabetical listing of all registered peonies and there are some useful things in the library as well, I use it to look up hybridizers.

There is also a 2nd peony forum on garden.org, also free, and is fairly active all year round. Also several peony groups on facebook if you want to see TONS of flower pics! Planet Peony is one of the most active.

I actually don't know what kinds I have, they were just labeled as hot pink, pink, and white when my Aunt gave them to me. Haha!

That's great! I wish I had some of my grandmother's flowers, the family connection makes it much more special!
