Entry Home Office Design Dilemma

entryway/study layout help!

hi all!
so my home opens into a smallish space that i would like to use as a study. its about 15' x 11' and Im thinking of having, builtins that include a desk (maybe 2?), and a futon/couch/sectional.

btw the desk in the room doesn't seem to work as it takes up too much space. here are some pics. i how you can get a sense of the layout (or lackthereof)

I love your original door. don't ever get rid of that, just paint it if you want a change!

look up Ikea hacks for office spaces. maybe try:

instead of the TV in the middle, you'd have your desk ^

for some storage along the walls, try unfinished oak cabs, set them on this platform w/trim and paint

then you could get a free standing desk and place it in front like this:

did you know you can paint tile? since this is an office, I thought maybe you'd like to jazz it up a bit. ditto the brick. you can do a solid color and leave it, or pick another color and do a stencil

Wow! these are fabulous ideas-thank you!! might be able to save$$$ with the ikea Jack built ins too! where do you think it would work best?

i did not know you could paint tile-interesting. im not in love with my tike anyway.

yes you could. if you can do a little DIY with trim work, it's rather simple. go to Pinterest and look up Ikea Hacks. they have thousands of ideas w/how to's.

as for the tile, again, pinterest for the how to. I believe they use porch paint (since it's durable for foot traffic) and once dry, they go over it w/a floor poly to seal it. Cutting Edge stencils and Royal Design studio have ideas w/the stencils and tutorials.

I like the idea of shelving along the wall with the fireplace and then use the corner with the teeny window for a desk and computer area, I would not paint the brick fireplace; but do clean it up.

thanks threers. I was thinking of the same thing with a sofa/futon near the window so we can enjoy the fireplace, (once we clean it up) I'm not sure what to do with the wall next to the window though.
