I would rethink the corner chair. Seems to far to be part of the conversation. Maybe a large plant with uplighting. I love everything you've done so far.

Something is off and I can’t get a handle on it from your photos.

What size is the space and what size is the rug? I think the rug may need to be turned in the other direction and pulled closer to the fireplace.

Try an end table on either side of the fireplace (with to be purchased lamps) and then the chairs angled in front of each table with a mirror above to reflect the light.

Something like this:

try a few of these layouts. I've chosen pictures that mimic your FP and window set up.

try moving the chairs and sofa how they appear in some of the pictures and see if that works.

a chair in the area of each window like this: (instead of lined up like soldiers)

put a tall plant in the corner

chairs don't need a table on the outside, just do a smaller one between the two

these somewhat fit your style. look at the layouts. and the coffee table

I would lose the side tables entirely and spread the chairs with a single table between. I'd get something lighter with legs for the coffee table.

When you get the third chair, put it on the corner of the rug so it's part of the conversation group; don't move it back into the corner. Put your plant behind it in that corner.

Lose the art to the left of the windows behind the navy chairs. That space is too small for art.

Our fireplace and TV are on the other side of the coffee table so I don't think that putting the chairs there would work for our space.

I like the idea of the adjacent seating space with a small table in between.

JudyG Designs - Here are the measurements if that helps! 12’ coffered ceilings and open to the eat in area and kitchen. I hope this helps! We currently have the rug about 4' from the fireplace. We centered the rug with the windows. I'd really like to keep the chairs against the windows because our guests watch TV with us when they come over. These chairs swivel-FYI.

groveraxle - I like the idea of a small table in between the chairs. We are definitely looking at smaller side tables for the couch and a coffee table that's less chunky.

We pulled a chair from another room to the corner of the rug to get a sense of how it will work and I think that's a great idea! Now we need to look for that chair too.

I've never thought about that picture being too big for that space until I walked around and looked at the other pictures in my house. It is much wider in this space than those. It is a 28" wall. The frame is 22". Is there a rule of thumb for this measurement?

Cat, I don't know that there's a rule of thumb for pictures on little walls like the one next to your windows. I don't like them on little walls like that because it ruins the balance of the window wall, plus it seems disrespectful to the art, like it wasn't important enough to give it proper focus.

You guys have been SUCH a great help! I've done a few updates and wanted your advice.

I bought a gold table for in between my two side chairs, a new floor lamp and a fig plant. I had a wooden chair that I pulled over from an other room. I love the look of the wooden chair but am wondering if it is too small for the space. I thought about adding a poof leather ottoman to bulk it up a bit. I'm up for getting a new chair, but just like this style and can't seem to find any bigger. That is my first problem. The second problem is lighting. I have kept the gray side table and table lamp in the room only because we like lighting on both sides of the room at night. I tried removing the table and adding one of those black metal lamps with the adjustable arm. I feel like it was too small for the space.

Here is what I am wondering..would it be best for me to swap the floor lamp and tree and then get a small end table with a lamp on it for over by the white side chair? I brought the chair up to the corner of the rug like @groveraxle suggested and love it. If I do this, then the cord for the lamp will be stretched a bit. I'm not sure how to get around that.

Metal art on the wall is going to be replaced by a black/white gallery wall of sorts and coffee table is going to be replaced with a brown wooden table with a black base. At least that is what I am thinking right now. I'm up for any ideas! I would LOVE any help you can give me. You guys have been so helpful so far!

Nice work so far. I would replace that hunkering table with a wood tripod lamp like this that has a bit of presence without being heavy. Your coffee table suffers from the same problem as that end table. I replaced it with a couple I had on hand that are less clunky and more suited to the vibe of the room. And that strip of wall next to the windows hasn't gotten any wider, so I removed the too-wide frame again.

Thank you so much, @groveraxle! No, haha! I have not moved that frame yet. Mainly because I'm going to have to patch the wall behind it and haven't gotten touch-up paint yet. I have some other painting touch-ups to do so I will be taking it down when I tackle that.

Soooo I just realized that I never included this picture of the other side of the room. I have one of those lamps on that side! I've never thought about putting it next to the fig. I'm fine with doing that because it will take up some space on that side. The bulky side table is going away. It is just there to hold a lamp so we have some light on that side of the room until we come up with a solution. It definitely isn't staying. Neither is the coffee table.

Question: If I move the tripod lamp to the other side of the room by the tree, what should I put on this side of the room. We really like having light on both sides of the room since we do not use our overhead lights. Like I mentioned, this chair might be too small, but it's the style that I'd like to use and am open to over chairs. I've also thought that a leather poof ottoman might help bulk it up.

There's no rule that you can't have two floor lamps in the same room.

I think your chair is fine, but could use an end table. I like these nesting tables from West Elm (currently on sale, BTW). I might put them on the other side of the chair, though.

I just wonder about having two of the same floor lamps in the room. I like the tripod wood lamp that I have in this corner because it takes up space but didn't know if it was too much brown wood in that area. I like the idea of moving it to the other side of the room next to the tree. Would it be awkward to have two tripod lamps (one wood and one metal) in the same room? I like that it takes up space in that big corner, so maybe a metal one in that corner and move the wooden lamp to the other corner. Or maybe get an arc lamp and put a shorter plant in front of it on the ground to take up space.
