Pictures would really help. When I had standard pillows and Euro pillows, I would have the standard ones on bottom and angle the Euro ones on top, so the Euros were more perpendicular to the bed and the standard flat. I then put any small decorative pillow in between the two Euros.

Thinking you are trying too hard to get a luxe look on a bed which is quite simple (very nice). Good time to follow the "less is more” rule.

Dress any bed in a way that makes it easy to quickly get into it at night and quickly make it in the AM. These days, unless one has "room service", many beds have become far too elaborate with multiple covers which must be removed every night.

The name "parson" should put you in mind of the type of person who may have had furniture like this in the past. Luxe was not part of their M.O., unlike many in the same field of endeavor today. Simple, even "bare bones" is more like it for your bed.

Maybe luxe wasn't the right word! I guess I just want it to not look sloppy. We recently moved and the bed frame is much simpler than the bedroom itself, but we are not at a point to replace the bed, yet. Just trying to get it to blend better I guess.

I’ve posted my room before: the quilt at the foot of the bed must stay. I removed the other throw.

Maybe try putting the euro pillows on top of the 1 standard pillow filling the gap (to prop them higher and hide the head board) and then angle the other standard pillows.

Remove all pillows.
Fitted sheet first.
Flat sheet, inside out, pulled all the way to the head of the bed.
Blanket, pulled up short of the flat sheet.
Fold blanket and fitted sheet back down to about a third of way.
Tuck everything under the mattress.
Add duvet, which you will partially tri-fold back so you can see the folded down fitted sheet and blanket.
Add at least 3 layers of pillows at the head of the bed.
Add a throw at the bottom of the bed.

I guess I'm showing my age, but I still prefer a bedspread on a bed. It hides a multitude of sins!

I have a similar bed from Room & Board but the headboard slats are vertical rather than horizontal. I never had good luck with the Euro pillows on any bed. Instead of placing your pillows against the headboard on their sides, try stacking them on top each other. With that bed style, the pillows are more likely to fall into the spaces between the bars if you place them on their sides. Then, follow the direction that ShadyWillowFarm suggested...fitted sheet, flat sheet turned down, etc. I HATE making my bed. Sometimes I just close the door.

None of the fabrics on your bed work together. You have 8 dark-red/pink/purple colors on the bed and one more dark red on a lamp. I would limit number of colors you like and want to use and chose patterns that go well with the formal trim on your walls.

Tatiana, I don’t disagree. The main colors are the light blue (walls), and gray with some red accents. The quilt isn’t my “style” per se but it has sentimental value so it sits at the foot of the bed. The gold framing on the wall ties in with it a little bit that was pure luck. I could spray paint the red lamps a glossy white, but since the there are some deep reds in the quilt...
Looking to get just sheet sets that are just light blue or white. Keep it simple.

5 pillows is enough. I think the main issue is that the bed is really rumpled. Pull the sheets taut. Straighten and smooth out the other linens. Fold the top layers evenly.

I liked the color the quilt brought to the room. Maybe use it under your duvet like shown in this video. Look for euro shams that bring your favored accent color to the head of the bed, like gold.

Ya, but reality is that it will never be “in-rumpled” with my husband around! He doesn’t even make the bed. I will bring in some color but want to stay blue, gray, white, and hint of gold.

If your 'dream' is a bed like your inspiration then it doesn't matter what your husband does or doesn't do as far as bed making. You are the one who wants a "not sloppy" bed so make that happen. Even if I don't walk back into my bedroom until I'm ready to go to bed at night, it's important to me to see a tidy, made bed so I do that before I leave. It's not stacked with decorative pillows but sheets and quilts pulled smooth and turned down, pillows stacked (we each have 2) open ends to the outside of the bed. My husband has learned after all these years this is important to me so if I'm in an unusual rush he will make the bed and does a reasonable job of mimicking what I do -close but not quite ;-)

Agree with DLM2000. The task of making the bed tends to fall to the person who cares the most about whether it gets done. Once I go to the effort of designing a great looking bed, I like to see it made up, and I love getting back into a smooth, unrumpled bed at night.

For the Euros, take a clue from your inspiration picture, as well as those others posted, and stand them up taller against the headboard as your first layer.

My husband doesn't make the bed, either. It's on me since I care what things look like in there. Unless someone is squirreling around on it during the day, once made it stays like that until bedtime.

Bring the blue and pale gold down to the bed with shams and/or quilt. Color repetition will bring your vision together.

That's my plan until I can get a new bedframe. But I don't want gold to take over.

Is it a good use of your money to buy a dozen pillows to gather dust? Is it a good use of your life to relocate them 700 times a year? Where do you put them at night? Let me guess: Someone is now selling a piece of furniture on which to display these overnight.

You have a point. I don’t take any pillows off, but my husband does. He doesn’t get the point of them either but I want it to look nice

It takes a lot of effort to make a duvet look smooth and even. Switch to a quilt or comforter, the bed will be so much smoother. Is there a body pillow or something making the lump down the center of the bed? It's making your pillows crooked.

The bed is uneven bc I can’t sleep with a topper and my husband needs one. Agree it makes everything lopsided, but it is what it is.
Here’s my most recent update. I think I want to get more fitted Euro shams (these are linen and a little too big), but was thinking of staying in darker gray color for contrast. Thoughts?
