Restoring my old door hardware.

So I have original 1920s hardware on my doors. They are old, dirty, and not much to look at. Most would just throw them out and buy new hardware. But, I decided to try and bring my hardware back to life. Little did I realize just how quick and easy it would be.

All I needed was Bar Keepers Friend, a toothbrush, and a rag.

YES! That’s all I needed!

I wetted down the hardware, sprinkled Bar Keepers Friend on it, and took the rag and toothbrush to it.

My hardware went from this

To this

Wow, what the transformation! It took a little bit of elbow grease, but it’s pretty quick and well worth the effort. It has some scratches and faded spots, but that just gives it more character.
