I saw this online, that someone shows to get more amaryllis, you can cut a amaryllis bulb into quarters, and then stick them into damp perlite, upright, and it will sprout out babies???

It never showed what happens or how long or what the chance is IF anything will happen.

Has anyone done this? What did you get? How long does it take to get...small plants?? I dont know what this is suppose to produce.

Is it to get 4 'BIG bulbs' FAST? That bloom much sooner side bulbs? Or do you get 40 little bulb-lets and it is years to bloom? IF anyone has done this and has some pictures, I would love to see what you got.

I would like to get more of my 'Lemon Lime' and 'Papillio' amaryllis, that are in bud now:) but since they cost $18-25 EACH, this way would be much more cost effective. IF the chance of them all dying off is LOW? And I get big blooming sized bulbs fast? But I need more details.

So.....anyone with opinions on this, or has done it and knows the result??
