It's ok to put them in the ground now, depending on where you live. Extremely cold temperatures will freeze the flowers, but wont hurt closed buds or the green stems. It's also ok to plant them in clumps. I personally think they look better that way. I have tete a tetes that have been in the ground for 8 years. They bloom nicely each year (so cute and petite). They have not multiplied at all in that period of time. You may consider purchasing tete a tete bulbs from an online garden website next fall, and planting them at that time, adding more into your garden for that natural, abundant look. it is much, much cheaper to buy bulbs, rather than the ready to bloom daffodils in a pot.

I agree with the above except that for me or in my climate, Tete a tete naturalizes very well and will make a considerable drift of plants over time. I like that it is such an early bloomer.....one of the first in my area.

I find that they naturalise well but tend to grow a bit taller than in their first year and the number of double heads reduces. But that could just be my less than optimal conditions, although I see Posie's appear to be singles too. I couldn't find February Gold bulbs last autumn so my window boxes this spring are full of tete a tete.

We planted some about 2 years ago that have multiplied nicely. I also noticed the green seems taller and almost no double heads. More like tete than tete a tete.

The clump that has multiplied has gotten thicker. There doesn't seem to be much expansion beyond the original planting area. So, i would need to either divide and replant and/or do a mass planting to achieve a truly naturalized look.

We bought 5 bags of them marked down 75% off. They are in bloom now.
