Building a Home Living Room Design Dilemma

10’ walls + vaulted ceiling. Advice/examples?

Hi! Currently designing an addition for a 20’x40’ great room. Looking at 10’ high walls with a vault (using scissor trusses so its a 4x12 slope). Has anyone done this? Does it look good, or are we going to have a room thats too high and church-like? Thanks!

No, at 4/12 the high point of the ceiling will be approximately +40" above the wall plate. So its not humongeous. That said, the single large and unbroken space will not have any sound, visual or smell privacy. What happens in one portion of the space will affect all of the space. If that's OK, then all is OK...!
