Stain our brick?

We have a beautiful colonial home in IL built in 1972. The brick is AWFUL. Ever outside choice (soffits, gutters, windows, roof, patio) has become a challenge. Nothing looks good with it!!! I’m considering having it stained, but need maintenance free. Any advice or before and after a?
