Which chandelier looks better?? Please help!

I'm trying to match on of these crystal chandeliers in my reception but I don't know should I go for the gold or the silver? I want to go for the one which looks more Modern and if my furniture is beige and gold must I go for the gold chandelier or can I go for the silver?
Please I need help ASAP

I like the first one more. It's softer and more elegant in my opinion.

    (gold)

Where is it going. The size of the room & style would help to make a decision. Both are lovely but more formal than my liking.

@ yukispon but does it look more modern?

@ Dar it will be in my reception which is of a more formal setting and it is a large area but same time the furniture is sort of contemporary.

I'd say the piping and bowls look more modern because of their smooth texture whereas the other looks cut and ornate. I think the swirled piping is elegant but more modern. The gold color is probably less up-to-date but I have seen it in many new homes here, so it may be making a comeback. Especially if the home is very formal.

@ yukispon, actually you are right. I have the same feel that the gold one looks more modern. I can actually get it in silver too so maybe that way it won't look too formal .
But I'm not sure if it must match the furniture color or not.

Do you have pictures of the furniture you can share? That would really help.

The purple couch and it has two off white chairs to go with it and in another corner are two beige couches

The first one has a more gracious design--I vote for it! The gold will look good with anything.

what finishes are in the room? Warm or cool? hardware in the room- nickel or brass?

I like the second one! It seems like the first one is very busy with all the different swirls and hanging crystals that your eyes don't know where to look at. The second one is very elegant and refined with just the right amount of detail.

the purple sofa is great but the beige sofas look like they should be in another room... ?

Ok... I see the silver chandelier with the purple couch and the gold chandelier with the beige couch, but honestly, I don't see the two couches in the same room.

    @doreen,

This is a big seating area it can take two sets of seating.
The colors of the walls are off white and the hardware in the room is brass

@ yukispon, it's not actually a room it's an open space
  • 13 years ago
ok then. :) good gold! Especially with your brass hardware. Have fun!!!

i would say yes- - UNLESS the chandelier is not in the center of the room, but in the area of the purple sofa. Then you are creating a separate area with the chandelier in this case which with the purple sofa the gold chandelier you like will be best.

I agree with decoenthusiaste. I really like some of the less traditional chandeliers with your purple sofa. I especially like the last two on her list.

I would get the one you like best. Once it's up, the finish won't matter. I like the gold one myself.
