Mary, It is difficult to say for sure w/o seeing a photo of your plants.

Make sure it is in a free draining mix (like Cactus type) and when replanting plant at the same level as it is planted now. You can have them planted out of the soil a bit more, but do not plant it deeper.

That doesn't look like what I'd call a healthy specimen. Suggest grown too wet or not enough light.

From what I can make out in the photo, it looks to have a few healthy leaves at the tip. This type of growth could be either from lack of light, but more so genetics. Many will grow longer and this one is not etiolated.

Soil looks dark in the photo. I would repot in the same pot, but use a cactus type mix w added Perlite and orchid bark. Make sure is getting atleast 8 hrs. of sun and if getting more in AZ make sure it is not in the hottest part of the day. Filtered in this time.

Thanks Rick. Yesterday it was potted up to a slightly larger pot and I used a cactus mix for the soil. It's been in the kitchen window, which is south facing but was getting no direct sun. I'll place it under a tree so it gets filtered sun as we are hitting the 90's here soon. Thanks for the input.

A few of my friends in AZ grow alot of Adeniums and they always speak of having them outside, covered w shade cloth or filtered sunlight when sun is at it's peak. They really much better outside when they can be outside. Give it a light spray (just the foliage) of water in early day every once in awhile. Just do not want it wet when hot sun hits it's leaves. When you start seeing it growing, then give it 1/2 strength fertilizer 2 x /week. Plain water other times if watering more than twice a week. A fertilizer with ratios close to 9-3-6, 24-8-16 and many use 20-20-20.
