Thank you for your suggestion about my art dilemma. I love so many kinds of pictures some times I end up with a hodge podge and I am trying to avoid that.

Can we see the entire room ?? It looks like you have many pictures on that wall. I think a picture of otters could be fun alone on a wall ...not in a grouping ..unless it's a grouping of animals ...but I like to see what else you have ....

Helpee, while you're looking for art that appeals to you, I wonder if you'd be willing to re-evaluate your furniture arrangement? I ask because there seems to be some wasted space behind the sofa. Maybe some like this would utilize the space in the room better.

Sofa before the windows, chairs flanking the fireplace and a nice console where you currently have your TV. (The blue dashes are potential places for artwork.)

II would group my furniture closer around the fireplace for your guests and or , you alone to have a cozy seating arrangement . The otter print looks great over the fireplace but I would hang it rather than just resting it on top . Get a table for in between your sofa and seating ..., a tall lamp that you can swing over the places you like to read ...and then look at your room again . If you don't have other Art , then just wait until you find the right one you love ...or put a decorative mirror over a long table on the bare wall ...to put things you collect or love ... Mostly have fun ...and put some flowers ...then have your friends over and see how they all sit and what you may need to get to make it all more functional and enjoyable .

Manon, I know it looks like I have space behind the sofa but the table is an Origami table from Crate and Barrel and the legs fold out and you can raise the leaf's and it turns into a dinning room table. I will have some chairs back there to put around the table when we have company. You have great ideas and thanks so much for helping.

I see, Helpee. The table is clever. What do you think about moving it flush against the rear wall flanked with a couple of dining chairs? When not in use, it can serve as a "console" to underline art work - similar to this Crate and Barrel display:

A couple of sources for artwork that I like are Miinted and Etsy. Etsy has lots of original works. Minted mostly has prints, unless you commission. I've found student art school sales to have original and inspired works that aren't cost prohibitive.

What subject matter would you choose?

Landscape would go....trees......modern art/abstract.
