Guest Bedroom

I don't think I'd be comfortable with so many mirrors in the guest room. I'd prefer just plain closet doors. Could you switch the doors with the craft room ones? Where will your guests put their suitcase? Their cosmetics? Where to charge the cell phone? An upholstered chair with arms would be appreciated. Depends on the type of guests that you will host. Your room is pretty but now you need to think about practicality.

If there is room, I think I'd prefer to sleep with my head on a solid wall, rather than under the window.

I do not want to remove the closet doors, as I prefer a cleaner/organized look (don't look at the mess in the rooms right now as they are stuffed full since we are in the middle of a lot of projects).

As noted, I'm ok removing stuff from the rooms, just not looking to purchase anything to put in.

You need to leave space in the guestroom for guests to put their glasses, their reading material and their telephone and charger. Right now, that space is occuped by the vase, photos and a decorative box. Remove all of them, and cut back on the mirrors. Real art would be better.

As for the craft room, I can't imagine actually doing craft in there - with the small desk it comes across more as a glam office. If you really want to do crafts there, you need a bigger table and functional storage.

Can you turn the bed so the head is under the mirrors which can kind of act as a headboard?

@ Grove - I'm not sure if you were able to read my entire post (I know I practically wrote a thesis!). :) but a lot of that crammed stuff (vase, the frames, mirrors on the floors, etc.) are there temporarily as we are working on multiple projects, so I had to stuff things in one room in order to complete the other. The reason it looks organized, is because I hate looking at disorganization even when I'm in the middle of a project. :)

@ Jmm - there are currently two stands next to the bed, one on each side. They are not your typically night stands, however, they have drawers. The stuff on top of the stands are there temporarily, as I'm organizing other rooms and this is how I do it (cram stuff in one room and take it out to complete the other).

The desk in the craft room is MASSIVE...it's really actually too big (was my husband's work desk, but he replaced it with a different one). The stuff on the desk in the pix are there only temporarily. As well, not sure if it's clear in the pix or not, however there is ample storage behind the desk, on either sides.

@ Molly - that's a fantastic idea! Do you think the bed will look ok on this side of the wall? The door is to the left of the three mirrors hanging.

Craft room advise: Get all (or most of) these frames up on one wall.

Remove the low cabinets and place really tall ones, similar width, with the bench inbetween under the window. Place the desk sideways, with a wall full of art behind it.

Doesn't hurt to try it. Do you have furniture sliders for carpet? They make moving things so much easier.

@ ring - LOVE that idea. Will def. do this (once I get a hold of Hubby's time).

@ Molly - We don't have furniture sliders, but the floors are being replaced with dark wood so everything has to come out. When time to put back in, I will def. give your idea a try!

Less is more. The walls are particularly cluttered. I (jokingly) wondered, why paint the walls when so little of them remain uncovered in the end?

You might want to use your gold accessories in the CR and silver for the GR. I can't decide if you're going for glam or shabby in the GB. For glam, flank the bed with the two globe floor lamps in the corners. Try the two small tables from the CR on either side of the bed. If they don't arrive at mattress height, wrap some large books with silver craft paper and stack them underneath to make a platform to bring the tables to the right height. You could add a round piece of glass to the little silver table if it doesn't have enough surface to be practical. Remove the stuffed animals, and add the shaggy pillows, but consider some sleeker bedding instead of the more shabby chic you have now. Maybe your guests would like some mirrors on the ceiling???
