Does anything stand out?

Hi, I am curious if anyone has some general advice on my living, dining, kitchen areas. There are a few things I am considering but am wondering what jumps out from a decorator’s view. Other than the obvious oak cabinets needing work. I am also mid project on the curtains so I know they look strange right now.

Here’s a couple more shots from different views

The room looks odd with the furniture pushed up against the walls. You could definitely use a coffee table or ottoman to bridge the room together.

You have a lot of seating, but it is really, really huge 'n puffy, and none of it faces the TV. One of the things the pros have stated many times, is to not park all of your seating up against the walls. Pull it away from the walls. Most of the pros say to put a sofa and 2 chairs in a living area.

I'm a sectional girl myself, because I think it works well for family lounging. But imho, your seating is over-scaled for the room.

I’d like to see the sectional face the t v; the other sofa gone; and adding another cuddle chair to left corner. The rug could be turned, with longer side parallel to t v and front feet of furniture on the rug.

Tthe wall decor is too darkand hard edged...

    Pull in sectional color..softer

Do you want to see the TV from the kitchen? If not, I'd put it on the wall where you have the sunset pictures. Then arrange put the sofa across from it and chairs to either side in a U shape.

Choose an accent color and bring it in your room with some pillows. There's too many things around the TV. Can you move the tank to another location?

What jumps out are the diagonal-triangle shelves.

I would remove the shelves around the TV. Move the round chair so it floats in the room facing the TV, and put the other sofas facing and across from each other. The room looked very dull until I saw your artwork. Add a deep blue or one of the sunset colors from the artwork into the room - maybe by changing the pillows on the round chair, and adding a throw to the brown sofa.

Your media cabinet is too short. Nothing in the room is connected to anything else. Your seating even looks like it's afraid of touching the rug. The space feels dark and small.

I love love quirky, but your triangle shelves look like a shrine, all that’s missing is some incense. There is a lot of beige, your picture is refreshing. Things may feel different in person.

Also that oversized chair looks super comfy, now you just need some books.

I think sofa needs to be on longest wall, where the windows are. This will give you room to add end tables and lamps. Round chair on stair railing wall.
TV rewired to wall where sofa is now and console 2/3 width of wall and wired so no wires show and console has closed storage. Think IKEA.
Take a pic and see how you like it!

The rug is too small if you want the furniture against the walls. The front of each seating piece should be ON the rug. Either get a larger rug or move the furniture forward so at least the legs of each piece are on the rug. When you are ready to buy new furniture for this room in the future, get less puffy, more sleek pieces....maybe a nice sofa and two or three chairs.
    I like Groveraxle’s pictured suggestions.
