Check out Narcissus 'Telamonius Plenus'....it's been around for ages.

We find those flowers around old homesteads, some dating to the early 1900s. They probably lost favor because of those double-flowers, which are so heavy that the heads often face the ground. Here's a photo of a typical clump.

Thanks, Gardengal and Jekeesi. That sure is it. I see it's being grown at Mount Vernon, too. How interesting a flower! I generally prefer simple lines in a daffodil, but this flower is so crazy and muddled up that I find it very appealing.
