Are you planning on a different counter top? Changing the cabinets entirely or just by painting them? The counter looks to have a peachy gold undertone. If you're keeping it I think it will limit your choice on color. A warm white is probably your safest bet with existing counter.

are the walls gray? with those tan tones and the darker wood, I'm curious as to why you went with what appears to be a blue-gray?

if you paint the vanity a diff color, are you up for painting the walls? this bathroom has the ability to be really nice looking

I actually like one of these darker colors since all your other elements are so plain.

I think this isnt translating correctly on the screen color wise because I know how talented Beth is and that counter is looking bright peach with the colors she is showing. Is there perhaps. a close up of counter color?

My apologies...I should have provided a bit more information. The previous owner made the decisions on wall colour, counter stone and cabinets, The walls are Edgecomb Gray (HC-173) and I "think" the counter is Ginger Caesarstone. Here's a close up picture of the counter.

Sons are hard on stuff; I know because I lived with some!!!! Painting those cabinets will be a lot of work and not much “gain”. I’d concentrate on decorating-towels, art, rug, etc., and see if I could find my happiness that way first! Then I’d consider painting the walls.....Good luck!

Holly, i can finally see all the pictures. What is it you are trying to accomplish in the bathroom? Are you painting the cabinets because they are in bad shape? Does the wall color just throw the whole look and feel of the bathroom “off”. Are you trying to make the room look more masculine? I don’t say it often since i love painted cabinets but the cabinet color is the most complimentary to your floor and counter color. Changing the hardware can boost the look of it. The mirrors are lovely but more feminine so changing them out if you would like a more masculine look for your son is also a possibility. Idk know how old your son is. Will he be living with you long enough to influence the decor of this space or will he be off to college soon?

IMHO if you just changed the countertop to a lighter whitish or grayish color, the rest of the color elements would work. But you don't mention budget.

Pink Peony... I feel the cupboards and wall colour make the bathroom a bit drab and open to painting them and adding new hardware. The counter will be too expensive to replace and I want to keep the mirrors and fixtures. My son is 12 but as the bathrMoon is sometimes used by guests I would like to make it more neutral vs masculine. The room does not have windows as it’s an interior room. I like your ideas above... if you can tell me what wall paint would go best with the cabinet paint, that would be great! Many thanks!

Holly, the darker wood cabs are fine, color-wise, but you feel they need to be painted? are you willing to commit to the prep portion to paint these? it's not as easy as just whipping out a brush and slapping on paint. they will need to be removed (marked for exact placement) sanded, cleaned, primed, sanded again, wipe clean, painted with an appropriate enamel paint, usually 2-3 coats. full cure takes about 30 days.

you could possibly refresh the wood stain by doing a thorough cleaning of the wood and using a gel stain. however, if the clear coat is still intact, a stain won't take. you will need to sand or strip.

buying a new vanity, with a top, could cost about 1500-4K, depending on what you choose. To replace just your countertop, look into a prefab quartz or granite (or marble) countertop. those cost about 450 or so for your size. fabricator will cut your sink holes upon install. (maybe another 500 or so).

if you just want to paint the walls, bring home some warmer samples that work w/the ginger color. accent with towels, rugs, art.

Not to be a downer but Beth is right. Painting cabinets correctmy takes a toN of work. i would paint the walls white. Bring in polished nickel hardware instead of brushed hardware then bring on color with towels and some art for the walls . Holly if you were planning on hiring someone to do the cabinets they would charge you as much as a new counter would be. To be your counter is more of an obstacle than your cabinet color. Just to show you the walls in a different color .....

I would hate for you to go through all the work of doing the cabinets only to find it’s still not giving you the results you’re craving.

Unless you follow the procedures that Beth outlined you will have chipping paint. Nothing looks as ratty as chipping paint on cabinets. That 30 days to cure is no joke, either. We had painted base cabinets in our library and were putting the room together a couple of weeks after they were painted. We scratched the paint in two places just with objects bumping against the doors. With a 12 year old boy, do you really want to open your bathroom to the possibility of chipping paint? Those nicely done kitchen cabinets that are so poplar are done in paint shops where they can use smelly and dangerous paints that you do not have access to as a homeowner. Since California does not allow those paints even for professionals (because of the fumes), California homeowners try to buy cabinets from out of state to get the better durable paint finish.

Your current cabinets look very nice. They just belong to the recent fad for dark furniture (was it "ebony" finishes that were so popular for so long?). If people would stop trying to paint everything gray and just try to work with those warm colors that are already there in their homes, there would be less angst. It is when you mix warm colors and cool colors that you notice the clash. Likely, your home's previous owners went gray to help the sale, since gray is being used everywhere these days.

Holly, if you are sending them out to be painted, that should be about 1K-2K ? for a bit more money you could do a brand new vanity and top of your choice.

if you're having some random house painter do them, they won't take the time to properly prep them.

as for paint colors for the wall, i've attached quite a few combos that may work w/your current countertop. pairing them to march on a computer screen may not always get the best tone, so bring home samples.

I think the cabinets and hardware look great. I vote for the Navajo White that Beth chose for the walls and I would look at a new vanity.
