Not really a weed.......just the remains of a hyacinth :-) After a couple of years in the ground, they do not tend to produce very full flower stalks like freshly planted ones do. It should have a very spicy-sweet fragrance.

There are some look-alike bulbs that can be quite weedy - wood hyacinths or Hyacinthoides. But they tend to have paler, nodding flowers that do not open as widely and lack that wonderful scent. They aslo tend to grow in clusters rather thn as individual plants as they spread and seed around very vigorously

Do you mean the leaves on the ground around the Iris and the Hyacinth?

I assume you are talking about the low spreading plants, not the hyacinth. Don't know what it is, but if you didn't plant it there and don't want it there, pull it out. More room for the hyacinth and the irises:)

I did mean the lower plants and not the flowering ones.

I just moved into this house and don't know very much about gardening so am trying to figure out which plants will eventually turn into flowers and which ones are weeds or not supposed to be there

I believe it's a desirable. But pull if you wish (as above)....otherwise i recommend a wait and see.

Possibly Rudbeckia or Echinacea from what I can see. We always recommend living with the garden for a year to see what comes up. Hope you give us many plants to ID.

agree on observing for the first year ... at worst .... let thing go to FLOWER ... to get IDs ... you can always remove things.. BEFORE they seed ...

what caught my eye.. what is around the hyacinth?? .. a glove.. or landscape fabric???

the other observation ... boy is there a lot of whatever that is ... if you wish.. you could remove half of it.. and barely notice.. by the time they grow to size ... it might also tell you if they are all connected underground.... or individual seedlings ..

and if they are all new seedlings.. you have to wonder about it being a hyper aggressive reseeder ... and sometimes those are not worth the space ...

Looks like Campanula rapunculoides. If so, you will have to live with it forever, regardless if you pull it or not. Sorry.

Edited to add: Has nice flowers, though.

I also think it is a Campanula.
