Maybe move the rug away from the wall behind the sofa so that your table can sit on the rug.

A larger rug to include going under the chair. Look for something that has a large pattern. The entire area lacks pattern. And how about color...all gray everything is really boring and frankly all gray is depressing. Look at high end design magazines...not the trendy. You will see lots of pattern and color...how about trying a little of each.

Nice start to your room. I would pull the rug out so that only the legs of the sofa are on

the rug. Lower that art work and look for some colorful pillows and a throw should get

you started.

I would go not in gray side with rug but warmer, greige as walls and floor.

It looks like you need a bigger rug. Perhaps a rug that will also fit under the chair? Something like one of these might be nice:

I like Bettys idea of brining a blue rug , perhaps a bigger one in the colors that are similar to blue glass building you have out the window and blue pillows as on Southampton Modern Farmhouse , the butterflies are nice some other 3D wall sculpture
