Pruning a pecan tree damaged by deer

I have a Caddo pecan tree (planted in 2013) that was damaged by deer a couple of years in a row. It's 7 to 8 feet tall now. Anyway, it doesn't appear that the central-leader system is going to work for this tree. Is "open center" a possibility, because of the damage? I realize it's not optimal, but I'm not sure what else to do. Thanks for any info.
