Stenciling A Bathroom Floor

Has anyone DIY stenciled a bathroom floor? I’ve read some How-To blogs and it looks fairly easy. I want to make this my next project but I’m afraid I’ll make my ugly floors worse. I’ve painted plenty, but I’m not an experienced DIYer. We’re saving for another home project so new floors aren’t in the budget, I want to improve the space w/out spending a lot.

I’m attaching a pic of my guest bath, the lighting isn’t great but the walls are light beachy green & the floors are ugly beige. Also attaching an inspirational photo. I’d love to hear from anyone who did this, knows anything about it, has other ideas, or thoughts if this will look good in my space. If you have another idea, I’m all ears! If it helps, this is an 1880s row-house w/ some original charm, but has been remodeled over the years. Also, I have a brushed nickel mirror mate to frame the mirror, but haven’t put it up yet.

Lol. Thanks Tartanmeup. I really love stenciled floors and think they are a great alternative for some people.

Paula A - You mentioned cost. I spent about $120 total on my floors, including the paint, stencil, and supplies.

I painted mine a few years ago. I didn't use a primer and I used Behr wall paint for the base along with chalk paint for the stencil. I also used several coats of polyurethane. I used the poly along the way, not just at the end. I have no chipping and the floors still look awesome.

I would consider myself an experienced diyer but this is a pretty simple job.

ilikefriday your floor looks beautiful!!!!! that's the look I'm going for, but I think i'll do a simpler stencil - I read that will make touch-ups easier. Glad to hear you consider it a not too difficult job. Thank you both for chiming in :-)

Paula A - Just a note. Simpler stencils will make touch-ups easier, that is true. They also make mistakes more obvious. Just something to think about when selecting your stencil. Good luck!
