I would not even start painting until you have fabric to work from. If you still need to purchase bedding, a sitting chair (if you can fit one or two), work from those items. It's much easier to pull a paint color from the fabrics in your room, than finding bedding, drapes and upholstered furniture that coordinates with the paint you've chosen.

Perhaps I should go with a neutral and then bedding and whatnot will be easier. What we do have has been in boxes for 2 years and I am not even sure at this point what that is! I do have a sitting chair that needs to be re-upholstered, so that will be easy to coordinate.

Sea Salt (we painted this room that color not too long ago) is an easy and subtle color to coordinate with. I would begin the process with a large and beautiful rug in medium tones. I favor Orientals because that is a timeless and elegant look, and then go from there. Art on the walls is very important and really makes the room. I'd suggest a padded headboard and just box springs and mattress. Go California King if you feel you have the room; it's perfect for two people. No accent walls please, that's a trend and they rarely look good.

I am definitely leaning towards Sea Salt. I painted the kids bathroom with it this week to 'test' it out. Will it be weird to have a bold high contract master bath and a more mellow neutral bedroom?

Yes, I think it would be a bit weird to have the bathroom that strong green and a mellow colour like Sea Salt in the bedroom. Simply for the shock of going from one to another in the morning. But that's me. Your mileage may vary as we say. :)

I'm currently "re-doing" our master bedroom so I feel your struggle. Starting with the bed is a good idea. We have a king on a 14.4 wall and it's fine (76 in wide). California King is narrower, if memory serves. Have you started collecting inspiration pictures?

Once you have your bed and bedding post the pictures here along with a floor plan of the bedroom and some pictures of the space. Then and only then can we give advice for your space.IMO bed style and bedding set the tone for a bedroom

As far as bed and bedding, we likely will have a mattress on the floor for awhile. Our build was unplanned and our previous furniture was mostly flooded. Right now we are sleeping on a full size mattress from IKEA. A king sounds luxurious! I spend a lot of time on our mini-sofa, lol. I plan on getting white bedding I think, or a light neutral.

Can we talk carpet colors? I was thinking an oatmeal type color.

You might like Santorini Blue by Benjamin Moore for your walls! Or perhaps Smoke by Benjamin Moore. Seems like either of them could work with the green of your bathroom vanity. Love the idea of white bedding and oatmeal-colored carpeting!

Oatmeal is a versatile colour. My advice is to check the undertones. Look at it against a white sheet of paper. You don't want anything that skews too pink, too green or too this or that. It might not show up on a sample size but once you have the whole room done, you get into issues finding coordinating bedding and curtains. And I'm sorry, I misunderstood about your master bathroom. I thought the strong green was for the walls! Then, yes, the colour difference would be jarring but if that green is on the vanity, it won't be as jarring. Play around with paint samples to find what pleases your eye. Sea Salt is quite versatile and plays well with a wide range of colours.

Full size mattress is a double? There's always Queen between that a King. From what I'm seeing shopping for bedding, Queen is the more popular size for a couple's bedroom.

I'd get the new queen mattress and a bedframe. Amazon and other places have simple queen bedframes with central supports (essential) for under $150. At some point, your comfort in being in a real bed off the floor

takes priority. Then I'd shop for bedding. Something with a bit of green, not an overwhelmingly green pattern. Look at the lightest green on the vanity's green color chip for the walls. If you must paint right away, have it all primed with white primer.

Since intense green is not the color of the month at the moment, look at stores that have livelier bedding patterns than usual: Anthropologie or Pottery Barn Teen have fresh looks. If you prefer more traditional, look at Ralph Lauren bedding. Plain white is also an easy, inexpensive choice (I'd rather spend the money on a bedframe than on designer sheets).
