Bluestar Backsplash

My contractor is having issues installing the backsplash on my 48 inch rnb bluestar range. I picked the 48 inch steel backsplash with a shelf. Does anyone have experience with that backsplash or similar from bluestar? He said something about brackets that he doesn’t know where they go, location of screws, and having to remove the top burners. If anyone can take a picture of their install I’m sure that would be massively helpful! He tried calling bluestar directly but I guess they were less than helpful and told him we need to use one of our dealers installers.

That picture doesn’t help. There should be instructions with the packing material .

    BACKGUARD

    •  All ranges require a backguard. Most models have the option of using: grate height trim; island trim; 6”inch standard; 17” inch hi-back; 24” inch high shelf. Heritage Classic models require a 24” inch high shelf for all installations.
    •  If you are using an island trim or grate height, a six inch clearance between the back of the range and a combustible surface is required. If an island trim is to be used without this six inch clearance, the back wall must be constructed using non-combustible and heat resistant materials that extend below the top surface of the range a minimum of six inches.
    •  All backguards follow the same basic installation. Remove rear grates, slide backguard over rear of unit, align holes, use hardware supplied to fasten backguard to unit. A minimum of six sheet metal screws (more depending on width) are to be installed, three on each end and more along the bottom edge.
    •  Remove the two rear ring grate/top grates from the cooktop surface. Sheet metal screws must be installed - down - into the cooktop support. Screws are installed on each end ring grate/top grate position. Replace the removed grates.
    •  Anti-tip bracket only required on 24” models.
      ANTI-TIP INFORMATION

    Maybe this will help.

Thanks for the response! Unfortunately the only instructions thst came with the backguard are what you stated in your last bullets. Problem is there are no screw holes that line up when you remove the back burners and the contractor has no idea what those two brackets are for (previous picture). The backguard is 48 x 24 for reference. Any help is appreciated!

Like the above poster posted. The installation is fairly straight forward. I do not know what those pieces are or where they go. My husband installed ours and he doesn't recall those pieces.

The rear grates need to be removed to slide backguard over the rear of the unit. You will need to use screws in the back as well as the front. Here is the front of mine with grates removed and you can see where the screws go. There are 4. I can't access the back.

    Hi Brian Holt,

I am new to this Forum but I have the exact same question: I bought a new Bluestar Range & backsplash and the installer (and myself) could not figure out where those same two brackets(as you pictured) go. The backsplash is mounted correctly front and back per the instructions.

Did you ever find out where those brackets go?

    TIA!

I have the same question - did you ever figure out the answer about these brackets?

Yes. They are uprights that bolt to the range, and go up inside the backsplash. They don't seem to bolt up quite as directed, and so may be for an earlier generation of backsplash. I got mine to work. IIRC, they do not bolt directly to the backsplash, so they do not appear to add much if any structural support to it. Contact Bluestar Tech support to get installation doc.

So they don’t secure the backsplash or range to the wall or floor, but are internal supports?

I just received this link from Bluestar. Very helpful. https://vimeo.com/319566306

    Correct

Wish Bluestar had sent that video to me last month. That was how I installed it, although I had to provide my own stainless steel bolts, lock washers and nuts. I also had to drill out the two shelf mounting holes; there are two layers of sheet metal at the hole location. The first layer came pre-drilled but not the 2nd layer. I used a carbide step drill; conventional bits work poorly in stainless, I find. So, minor fiddling to mount, but all worked out fine.

If it is like my 30" Blue Start you have to remove the rear vent as the backsplash incorporates a new vent.

It took me a few minute to figure that out as I also received no installation instructions.
