Front Door trim ideas

We are in the process of replacing our front door and we are up against some challenges. The storm door will be removed and we will be removing the badly installed Pediment above the door. The front door will be replaced. We can not match our existing siding. We have priced out adding a portico but that is out of the question as this house is short term for us, so this is mainly for resale purposes and to make the entrance more appealing to buyers. We are thinking of replacing the pediment with a more appealing one and redoing the trim work around the door as well. My husband is suggesting stone veneer around the door but I can’t find photos of what this would look like. I’m inclined to stick with the white vinyl trim idea. If anyone has any ideas, photos links I would appreciate it.

Just replace with like approach. The brass idea might be nice but with light siding it won’t bring enough contrast. The home needs contrast. I would do an enhance bed in the front yard with a nice tree to help break up the all siding look if the home. Definitely a NO for any stone around front door. Would look unrelated to home. Keep door style authentic to home. No Victorian oval glass look. Dollars best spent on better landscaping and curb appeal.

If I were going to sell this house, I would change out the lights with some eye-catching polished brass ones and perhaps put a seasonal flower arrangement on either side of the door. I don't think that pediment looks bad, but it's hard to tell in the photo. The new door should also have brass accents and a brass door knocker to pull it together. But a view of the entire front of your home would be helpful.

Thank you, we do put flowers by the entry way once it is above freezing lol! I have posted the entire house above. The pediment is very badly installed and looks terrible. We will have to redo around the door once we replace it.

While a full portico maybe too pricy, a tiny gable or shed roof held up by brackets could be an inexpensive DIY. It would help define the entry and keep the rain off your head as you open the door. A bright color for the door help it stand out from all the windows. For resale you may only want to do brass accents, a new door color and matching flowers.

I think some stone in front landscape would be nice. You have a little slope toward left side of home. A low stone wall, just stacked not mortared or formal along front of house with some plants and flowers. Then a couple flowering dwarf trees near house plus larger carriage lanterns and flower pots at front door would really improve your curb appeal. Here is rough mock up.

One more thing. Don’t know what condition your roof is in, but I would replace it if at all possible with black roof. That rust orange color looks old and might cause drivers to keep looking. Remember, today’s buyers use the Internet so photos are very important to getting people interested in your property. You have 3 seconds to grab their attention and get a showing or a drive by. Make it count.

I agree with Flo....NO stone surround for the door.
If you think you have money for stone, use it instead for a simple portico or at least a nice awning roof over the front porch. The entrance lacks definition and appeal. A tree is always welcome in a landscape. Once Spring arrives, put out your potted flowers and perhaps add some small plants along the path to the front door.
