Repainting open kitchen

Hi all! We decided to turn a horrible flood into the kick in the pants we needed to redo the kitchen. I’m at a total loss on pain colors and the painter will be coming in after drywall and floor tile. Right now it’s a light grey-ish but seems darker due to lack of good light. The wall in photos is south facing but not a lot of natural light. Cabinets will be Benjamin Moore dove white, counter is fountain blue quartzite. Trim and doors will be painted in same color as cabinets. Im trying to stay away from yellow or brown undertones. Need to narrow down to 3-4 to put on the wall.
Thank you and don’t mind the wavy floors- they are being refinished in a few weeks.

A picture of the countertops that will be in kitchen, tile is a light grey- there is a piece on the floor in the original post.

I am using Dove white on my current project too. I would suggest trying these two paint colors - one is warm gray and the other is cold gray,

    KM Graybeard - Warm gray

KM San Francisco fog 75% - (picture attached of San Francisco Fog 75%)

Both of these colors are light shade of gray and work very well with white cabinets.

I would try Pale Oak, Winterwood and whitestone. They are very different from one another.

you are going to have a very cool toned kitchen. Are you refinishing those floors in cool stain? I hope so because that warm cherry color clashes w/the blue-grays of your stone.

    (gorgeous countertop btw.)

Any of these should work w/your kitchen. However, if that floor color doesn't change, you'll have to choose something warmer

I mixed this color with Abalone and got a great looking color

The wood floors are cupped due to the flood, right? Just be prepared that the floors might never look perfect again and that some level of cupping might return, even after the floors are refinished. Will your insurance company cover you if the floors look cupped again in a years time? I would get that in writing, stating that you accept repair of the floors at this time, but if the cupping returns in X time frame, they will refinish again or replace.

When we had our flood in our last home the restoration company showed up that day, started drying & ripped ALL the floors out the next day. It was a whirlwind. One day beautiful floors, next day... gone. I didn't have a choice. They said everything that was under water must go.

As for the color on your walls I would go with Owl Gray BM or Sea Salt BM. Quiet Moments is way too toothpaste minty fresh for a kitchen. Pale Oak, Pewter Revere or Edgecomb Gray might work as well.

chispa - yes cupped due to water, and we have insurance on board. mark_rachel what a bummer! Thankfully the flood was upstairs, it just came down through some ceiling fixtures and dripped on the floors so there wasn't a ton of standing water and the restoration company did an excellent job tenting and drying.

AK design - thank you, I'm not sure what you mean by 75%

Beth H - no we are not changing the hardwood, I am in love with it. Thank you for the warm undertone tip. I get so confused with all of this.

Jennifer Hogan I will attach more photos soon. It really is difficult choosing a color since this house is so completely open and if you pain one wall it seems like you have to paint them all. Thank you for your thoughtful responses.

So far I tried BM Pale Oak, BM Owl Gray, and Seal Salt by SW. Not loving any of them on the wall yet but the owl and oak are growing on me. May go back and get a few more samples today.

@minikin37 isn't that the way with all projects. You see a bedspread and just have to buy it. Then you need curtains, then the area carpet doesn't quite work, soon you have completely changed the bedroom and it doesn't work with the master bath or the hallway. You start down this rabbit whole and soon you have changed the whole house and spent thousands of dollars when you started with a $200.00 impulse purchase.

Few more photos of area we are working with.

The stairwell is in the middle which is a bad design but we can’t change- so you walk around from kitchen to living to dining and a hall that goes to garage with laundry and half bath in hallway
