stackable dryer with bottom controls, do they exist?

We're looking forward to a new laundry room, and before finalizing the layout I was hoping to have a stackable washer and dryer picked out to replace our current side by side. Unfortunately I haven't been able to find any brands that carry dryers with a bottom control option...which seems like a missed opportunity, as seeing the controls 6 feet+ from the floor is a literal pain in the neck.
Any recommendations for high efficiency options with this feature would be greatly appreciated!!

Speed Queen seems to have what you are looking with its "SF7" stacked front load washer and dryer with a countertop level control panel that runs both the washer and dryer. The actual model number is ATEE9ASP175TW01. Apart from having the unitary mid-level control panel, the SF7's washer and dryer are otherwise exactly the same units as the company's full-size, stand-alone front load washer & dryer models. The SF7 units can be detached/separated for transport and service but are otherwise meant to function in the stacked configuration. (That makes the pair a "stacked" unit rather than "stackable" separate units.)

You can use the long model number to search for the manuals from the Speed Queen website or else just look for the stacked unit at online vendor web sites like AJMadison and download the manuals from there.

There have been some discussions here of Speed Queen's SF7 unit. The only name I specifically recall is MizLizzie. IIRC, she has had hers for several years and mostly had good things to say about it. If you want to search out her postings, try a google search using "gardenweb + MizLizzie + Speed Queen" as a search string. Or start a new thread with a title asking MIzLizzie for advice about the Speed Queen stacked washer-dryer set.

Also, for future reference, Houzz allows cross-posting between forums and even lets you designate multiple forums when you start your thread. For now, you could try a post in the "laundry room" forum which is where some serious "laundry-philes" hang out.

The only ones I've seen are those that come as a stacked pair. Whirlpool and GE make them.

Only laundry centers such as this GE GUD27EESNWW (for example) have the dryer controls below the drum.

I need a separate, not pre-stacked, electric dryer with bottom controls. Preferably 5 to 7.6 cu ft. A prestacked, attached dryer/washer won't fit thru the entrance so the washer and dryer must be separate and have separate controls. I can't reach the controls at the top of stacked dryer with the controls at the top. I certainly can't be the only person with this problem so someone must make a separate dryer with bottom controls.

Nope because if the dryer weren't stacked, the controls would be on the floor. You might consider a washer-dryer such as the GE Profile PFQ83HSSWWW or LG WM6998HBA.

Is the doorway fit problem just with the height or is there also a doorway width limitation?

If the problem is only the height of the doorway, the Speed Queen FF7 (mentioned above) units are designed for relatively easy separation. This allows the washer and dryer units to be separated for delivery through tight and low doorways and then put back together once inside. The control panel is in the middle, so no reaching to the top for running the dryer. Friends in Philadelphia had one delivered that way. The dryer capacity is rated at 7 cu. ft. All that being said, SQ machines are expensive. ---- in my area, the cost now is around $4400 plus delivery charges.

The GE and LG combo (all-in one) units that wdccruise linked above use ventless heat pumps for drying, the GE is 28" wide and 47" tall while the LG is a more common 27" wide and 39" tall. If you would need or just prefer vented drying, Samsung has just come out with a 27" wide, 43-inch tall vented all-in-one combo machine. Drum size might be an issue for you.. Although the drums in those combo units are all about 5 cu. ft, in capacity, that is washing capacity, not drying capacity. IIRC, all the combo machines' user guides recommend having the drum less than full when running drying cycles.

The LG washtower is a connected set with the controls for both washer and dryer in the middle - I bought one when I moved in 3 years ago, and am very happy with it. Nobody will make a separate dryer with controls on the bottom, because then it can only be used stacked - the separate units are made to be used stacked or unstacked - if they're not stacked the dryer's controls will be near the floor.

It's vented dryer is 7.4 ft3, and the washer is 5.2 ft3.

What are your entry space requirements?

Did a little searching after posting above and found that, according to this video, those LG Washtowers are as easily separated for delivery as the Speed Queens. (Splitting for delivery and repairs is discussed starting around the 18 minute mark in the video.)

The LG Washtowers are much less expensive than the SQ unit.

Yes they do make dryers with controls on the bottom. Some are countertop models and some are for apartments and public laundries. The one's I've seen are either too small or come coin operated. I will be checking YouTube as jwvideo suggested. It looks like the best solution to my problem. Thank you all for your suggestions.
