oldrosegirl, The own root plants are in large pots (10 gal) and not in the ground, but they are really doing well. I am sure that they will never catch up to the ones on Fortuniana, but they are doing great and blooming their heads off also.

Wow, so many more blooms than I ever got from my own root EA. What are you feeding them? How do you prune your EAs? I don’t prune my EA much and I wonder if that is the problem.

Incredible! Mine just sits there and doesn’t want to grow or bloom In three years. I’ve tried alfalfa, steer manure, Miracle Gro, lots of water, acid fertilizer, composted horse manure. These all had the same result: nothing discernible. I’m trying fish emulsion now. The non-roses growing nearest to it (3 feet away to avoid root competition) are growing huge and lush, but Earth Angel doesn’t want to grow, just puts out a few 1” blind shoots. So sad.

I love this rose! I came across two of these and gave one to my mom and kept one for myself because they were so gorgeous. I potted it in a double pot with spray insulation between and it just kept blooming and blooming! Towards the end of the summer I moved it to the back where my irrigation couldn’t reach and everyone kept forgetting to water it. Now that I’m fixing my irrigation 8 can’t decide if I should get one for the pot or if I should plant a few in a group somewhere. The photos are so motivating to me!

i think Earth angel is a rose that does better with maturity. My own root one has a lot more blooms in it’s third season.

Oh, you give me so much hope (such GORGEOUS pictures!!!). I planted my little newbie in October, and right now she's about 2' wide in diameter and trying to grow along the ground. I have a few tiny blooms (REALLY tiny) - but I'm patient (sort of!)

Wow! The first picture looks like floating fairies or bubbles. The contrast of the flowers with the leaves is fabulous and the thin stems just disappear in the photo so the blooms seem to be floating around.

One day...

I have 2 planted with 6-8 hours direct sunlight in NY. The flowers are almost white w very little pink hue. Should I move to a shadier area to get more color? Kordes roses in my yard grow like weed compared to the DA roses.

How are your Earth Angels doing this year? A mix of white and pink color? I have a tiny baby plant I'm going to plant soon.

Out of 7 Earth Angels trees, one has more pink, one is white, others are white and pink. We had a week of heatwave. I am not sure if there is anything to do with the heat.

I love my EA!! Only thing I don't like is that after the first flush it puts out long octopus canes.

@suebelle_neworleans That is SO stunning. Mine throws out theses really tall branches. Do you prune it often? Is it in full sun? Does the grafted bloom more than own root. Mine is an own root, which went from band to 2-3 ft in one year but does not bloom with same profusion as yours..
