I bought this begonia as a hanging basket last summer..I removed the hanger but left it in the pot..the plant pretty much filled the pot last summer..there was a very basic tag..no cultivar name..the leaves were bronze? chocolate? and the blooms were orange..just for fun I kept the pot out of the cold over the winter hoping it would come back this year..it has but the perimeter at the moment is nonexistent..if only the center returns I'll replant in a smaller pot..

pic#2 is a small pot from last year..it's growing now too..at a garden center yesterday they had 4" pots for $3.99..small but full and blooming..made me think is saving these a waste of time?..how much longer until these are pretty?..but they're alive and I can't toss them now..

it looks like some sort of non-stop hybrid. a tuber survived in the pot. or may be more then one. they start up very slow.

do you have a pic of flowers?

I looked for a pic and found my orange bloomer but it was in a different pot!..so I was wrong..I think this one could be white..non stop sounds very familiar..no pic of the white..

i managed to overwinter some non-stops, but they were weak the 2nd year.

since they are so easy to buy as annuals i stopped messing with them.

I was curious to try..if I had a longer growing season I might do it but I'm wondering how long it'll take to look pretty whereas a new one is pretty today..thanks for sharing your experience..I'll keep these for now but going forward it's easier to buy new ones..

my best blooms on non-stops were in cooler weather starting in october. and they got big by then too and bloomed into november. but during summer it's too hot for them here in NYC, they only grow leaves for me then. so i lost interest since i have very limited space on my balcony.

Caladiums and coleus get me all the color i want all thru the season. so they make more sense to me.

I have shade..my tuberous begonias were prettier than my wax begonias..I love coleus and caladiums too..also elephant ears and curcumas..I can't wait to have a deck full of colorful pots!!..
