Hi, aligers. Will this room be used primarily for TV watching or will you be entertaining in this room as well?

Reclining furniture takes up quite a bit of space, because one has to allow for extension (foot rest and lean back). With a reclining chair and the TV above the fireplace, only one person will be able to comfortably watch TV for an extended period - and that person will be the one who sits in the recliner.

A reclining sofa allows more people to view TV above fireplace, but style options are limited. Most are of the big puffy variety. Even the more streamlined ones aren't coffee table friendly. I found a nice one from Hancock and Moore, but it is pricey.

You can go with a pretty standard sized sofa in this room (84" X 36" ish) and one recliner if you opt for the TV above the fireplace. I think you can also squeeze in a smaller scale occasional chair.

Here's a reclining sofa (84" X 39") and two 36" X 36" ish armchairs. Note there is no coffee table, as the foot rest of the sofa doesn't really allow for it.

Here's another arrangement with the the TV on the long wall and no recliners. I'd like you to consider something like this. It works for TV watching and for socializing. You could certainly add an ottoman if you want a place to kick your feet up.

I'm sure others will be along with more feedback and ideas. But this should give you a start to sizing and arrangements.
