Sheila, I can't tell you how much that means to me. I learned so much from others, and am so happy if I can sometimes do that for someone else. Your teas are magnificent and you should be so proud. Thanks so much, Jo and seil. Jin, the plant next to Aunt Margy's Rose is sea lavender that I have growingin a lot of different places in the garden. It makes babies which spread all over, and I notice my neighbor, who hasn't planted any, now has a bunch of them blooming. It's the gift that keeps on giving if it likes its situation.

The photos are all beautiful, but that last picture belongs on the front cover of a magazine, like “Sunset” magazine or similar. I had to take a closer look at that last picture. I thought perhaps some of your Daylilies had been spared. Upon closer inspection, I see that it’s your new milkweed. What a brilliant substitute! I’m really in awe over your garden. It’s so special and blends seamlessly with the natural landscape. Instead of competing with it, it enhances the natural beauty around you. I KNOW that’s not an easy achievement, but you’ve done it perfectly. The rain today was such a welcome bonus! It’s been quite a special day, hasn’t it:-). Lisa

Oh, I love how it looks when the ground is covered in petals. Petals on the ground seem to complement wafting fragrance.

So true, KS. I had never heard about Aunt Margy's Rose until Ingrid's reports. Mine is caged, as it is apparently scrumptious as a baby.

Ingrid, I know you often lament your garden of old, but I've never seen pictures that compare to these. I can't add to what others have already said, but the little raindrops on the petals have such a sweetness about them. I hope this continues for a while or at least enough to carry you through the season. : ))

Just a bit of drizzle today, but it looks as though it's going to stay cool for a while longer. mustbenuts, I'll keep my fingers crossed for rain for you. Rhodologue Jules Gravereaux in the front, Mrs. B.R. Cant on the left and Rosette Delizy and Souvenir de la Malmaison filling in here and there.Rhodologue Jules Gravereaux is surely one of my favorite roses.The granite rock is a favorite lookout post for the squirrels.

Amazing, Ingrid! I’m so glad everything is doing so well again. I can’t get over how lush everything is. RJG is just beautiful. It’s easy to see why it’s a favorite. I just saw on the 11 am news, that we received 12” of rain this calendar year(October-October). Our “normal“ is 9” and last year we only got 3. something inches. It’s no wonder everything was drying up, and the bunnies were hungry. There’s nothing like rain, and the news said there’s a chance of a little more next week. Sounds great to me! Lisa

Ingrid just like everyone has said your garden is purely delightful. Not only your roses are beautiful, but there is a special beauty in the Landscape surrounding your entire place that compliments your garden. I specially love that shot of RJG.

If I've managed to make my garden appear to be in harmony with the landscape then I feel I've succeeded because that was always my primary aim. Another was to achieve a sort of amalgam of the English and Mediterranean garden aesthetic, and this year for the first time in a long while I hope I've come close to that.

Lisa, thank you for those statistics. I know 12 inches must sound like peanuts to someone who lives in Seattle or New York, but what a difference it's made to our gardens, and compared to a measly 3 something inches the year before. The plants and animals here surely must feel the difference.

If it's suitable for your area, I can guarantee that Aunt Margy's Rose will make you happy. Grow it against a wall or fence to make it taller, which means more flowers.

Marlorena, if you only knew. No one scrubs it; sometimes I hose it off and sometimes I sweep a little and that's it. Most things nowadays are left to their own devices and my feeble efforts. With our dry weather it's all pretty low-care.
