Who designed this plan? It's a new build I'm assuming. Overall it's pretty bad, the master suite design is the least of the issues. That "nook" is too small to be useful, your only dining space is smack dab in the middle of a major traffic path yet you have that massive great room. You have bedrooms with walk in closets but then tiny showers. All these rooms are such odd sizes and shapes.

We've seen this plan before and as I recall, you got plenty of suggestions that were pretty much disregarded. Is the bathroom swap all you are concerned about?

Not a new build it is a remoldeling of a 3600 sqft single story ranch. The details of the kitchen I am open to suggestion as we are still working on it. I have an architect working with me.

lizziesma, please elaborate. I actually took your suggestion of flipping the kitchen and dining area and eliminating the hallways. If you notice the kitchen and breakfast area are reversed and both hallway walls have been shortened. I am still working on that suggestion as the architect added that strange nook that I already asked him to correct so I had the thought of the bathroom switch. Therefore, I am a bit confused by your comment

I agree that the plan is lacking in numerous ways, but keeping the discussion to the master bath, here's how I'd change things:

- Fix the swing of the shower door. You want it to open towards the room for ease of entrance.

- Note that you have nowhere to hang towels near the shower.

- I always hate toilets-in-closets -- so dysfunctional -- but this one seems to be quite small, and you won't be able to close the door once you're in the closet. Why? Consider where you'd stand ... the answer is, in the door's swing.

- I'd flip-flop the laundry and the guest bath (these both could be improved) so that you could access the laundry from the master bath.

- With all this space, why do you have tiny sinks? And an empty corner between them?

- Add a linen closet.
