What is this interesting moth?

Hi, I was weeding in a woodland garden bed the other day and stumbled on this cute little guy. It looks a lot like a leaf. Anybody know what it is?
Thank goodness he/she was resting on a native aster (Aster puniceus) because it if it was on a weed I might have yanked it out!
