Mine does not rebloom, though I am lazy about cutting off spent blooms. It grows with a climbing hydrangea and a summer blooming rambler and just sort of blends in when not blooming. But when it does bloom it is gorgeous! This spring I have finally taken care of it after neglecting it for a few years, weeded around it, fertilized it, gave it extra water as it is under an eave. I hope it pays off!

Fabulous totoro! That rich apricot is so pretty. I have one in its third year but one of my children decided to cut it down last spring and so I haven’t been able to see it bloom yet. I hope mine looks even half as good as yours.

Sorry to hear that Dave. It only bloomed for me after it grew 15 ft canes.

Alchymist is a once bloomer but you can get a few scattered blooms during the summer.

Totoro, how long does it bloom for you on average? Have you seen in increase in the length of bloom or time or just quantity?

Its a gorgeous rose and I plan to get one in the future. For one that blooms all year, take a look at Polka. I have it, its blooms are fabulous and are very much like Alychemist. Polka is a big strong bush, very healthy. Tangerine Skies, tho more orange, is another pretty one in that shade that blooms all season.

Alchymist is a beautiful rose and yours is a stunning example. How old is your plant?

Thanks for the information, Totoro. I planted mine in 2016 and it has grown consistently and blooms well, but not like yours.

How about Betty Corning clematis which starts blooming after Alchymist but continues at least one week after Alchymst ends?

Perl D Azure clem also starts blooms shortly after Alchymist is finished.

Were you thinking of another rose to grow with it? In the same color family? Colette (peach), Awakening (pale pink) and Quick Silver (purple) are climbers that continued to bloom after Alchymist.

I’ve been trying to figure out if there was a more restrained honeysuckle w/some of the same color that wouldn’t overwhelm Alchymist. Something like:

But I guess was mostly thinking of a clematis. Love Perl d’azur! But not sure I have enough sun for that. I have some Polish Spirit I could move there, though I wish it were Etoile Violette. The color of Arabella (so far looks well w/Alchymist:

I do have a CPM that I could plant W/Alchymist. But not sure what the height difference or not would be...

I dont grow CPM so I cant help. But Perl DAzure is shade tolerant for me. Growing in the shade of my Japanese maple.

Wow - does it bloom well? I may have to try it. All my books say full sun. My mother had it growing w/Mme Gregoire Stachelin - but in more sun than I have.
Btw - how far apart did you space Alchymist when you planted?

@totoro How are your Alchymists this year? And — I’m still a total novice on once blooming climbers and need pruning/training advice. Ie how and when are you pruning? It doesn’t make hips. Do you dead head at all? Or do you wait till all blooming’s done? Also, I notice sometimes I’m getting single buds, sometimes cluster buds...
