I know Fred, crazy right!!! I'm trying to figure it out myself. I'm wondering if growing them in large pots had anything to do with it. All the seedling pots have grown this fast.

This is really crazy!!! I grow mine in larger pots but they don't grow like this! Please tell us the secret if you discover it!

Wow!! I have to grow my seedlings for several years and if I'm lucky then they might look like yours!! You must have a secret, what is it? I am really jealous now!

Growing under lights can't hold a candle to being in your climate and having the great outdoors at your disposal! Congratulations!

Fred, I'm still waiting for it to warm up enough to get my guys out of the house, but it just doesn't want to warm up!!! Maybe next week, huh?

Ok, so if its not the large pots...

The only fertilizer I used was a watered down version of Bayer 3 in 1 - nothing new.

Something new I did try was SuperThrive foliar spray 2x and noticed strong growth afterwards. I think we would all have to try it on seedlings to see if that is was caused the growth. But it does have a strong scent.

The bulbs are not as large as a flowering bulb, but the leaves are almost as large. Some of ththe bulbs have 6 leaves already. Her's a pic before I potted them back up. And this was only one batch!!!

Dan, I have never had seedlings grow this fast either. I kept thinking it was planting in large pots that caused the growth, but Anja said she grows her seedlings that way sooo the only thing I did differently was to use the Superthrive foliar spray. I thoroughly sprayed the leaves at night twice, a couple of weeks apart. I will use again this year and see if I have the same resulrs. Please keep us informed on how it works for you. Also it does have a strong scent, not as bad as fish fertilizer but... I am hesitant to hope but it would be nice if we could get our little darlings to bloom sooner :)

That is an insane amount of growth! Those root systems are really impressive for "seedlings" also! Wow! Yes, Superthrive has a funky smell... to me, it smells like B vitamins.

What kind of soil mix do you use

I use potting soil amended with perlite, large grain sand and crushed granite. We get a lot of rain in the summer, so I like it free draining.

What seedlings are these? Different cultivars may have differing rates of growth. My double hybrids like a white x dancing queen grow like crazy but my Papilio and Johonsonii seedlings from last year are half the size of the dancing queen cross.

Here's what they look like today. Repotting earlier than usual and all the seedling have grown this fast.

I have seedlings that were planted 2 years ago that aren't that big yet! Those plants look great!
