Digging up daffodils

Okay so I have a bunch of daffodils that I just dug up and I want to give them away... anyway, I just wrapped them in some newspaper and then in some plastic bags. I was wondering if this is the proper method to preserve them for about one week so I can give them away?

do I need to add some water in there? Like is it better for them to stay wet, or better to let them dry out? They still have greenery attached to the top...

It was probably the worst time in their cycle to dig them, but they should stay slightly moist until planted, which should be soon.

Don't worry. They'll be fine as long as they don't dry out. I've often moved daffodils in the green and it doesn't faze them in the least. Just tell the recipients to plant as soon as they get them and ensure they have sufficient moisture until the leaves die down. The worst time to move them would be in flower, not now. And even that can be done.
