Nice, looks like it won't be any time before you will be covered up in blooms! I have no "real" blooms yet, so they all look beautiful to me. It was cool here today, got a little bit of rain late this afternoon. I checked my plants this morning, and again this afternoon. I had 3 more with scapes this afternoon than I did earlier.

Looks like your season is starting to ramp up! Spoken in Parables and Citrix are my favorites. I added Wild Cherry Wine last year, thanks to pictures posted on this forum. Nice group!

Thank you. Debra, Marseilles Watercolor has been teasing for a while and opened two, one on each side of the plant.Yes, I suspect t won't be long. I do that plant check too, Nancy. t is beginning...I think it will be a bit before it really amps up, Lori, but it is slowing picking up now.

I vote with Nancy-WCW always looks so good in your garden and MW is showing a great first bloom. Colors on Polar Ice are so pretty although I wonder if that is what actual polar ice looks like?!!!! Definitely not the color I would think of if someone mentioned polar ice to me!!!

It will lighten up as it gets hotter, but it is always pink. Got up with rain but still got a few photos...I'll put them up tomorrow. Yumph! bloomed and it is a pretty one.

Kay is this start to the bloom season in your area about right time wise this year or is it later than normal ? Just curious because our season is so far behind this year . Wondering if it is the same all over

I believe I remember Kay saying her season started early. I may be wrong about that though, my memory is bad any time, but when focussed with daylilies, it is even worse. Here, I think my season is on track, or maybe just a bit late. Dumortieri bloomed about a week late, but weather has been warmer and I think they are catching up. I have an early blooming pink that may have a bloom by the end of the week. Other buds on that same plant are way behind though. I have about 23 that have scapes now, plus a couple of seedlings. I usually have a dozen or so blooming by the end of May, looks like it is pretty much on track.

Hannah, Nancy is right, my blooms started a couple of weeks earlier than last year, but mainly, Fernstone. It, Colorado Moonstone, and Bill Watson always race to be the first to bloom, I did think last year was also a bit early so it may be creeping along. I usually have two peaks of blooms now; the early and mid blooms, then the mid and lates. I do usually have a hundred or so that re-bloom,but it will often start as instant re-bloom. It is not my gardening skills that cause it, other than perhaps the mulching which they love and need here as hot as it gets. It is the climate I think. I do put out slug killers, and ispar on rare occasions. If I am really indiustrious and can find it, I scatter alfalfa meal or puut out fish emulsion prior to bloom season. I have put out time release fertilizer and they seem to like it, but not tremendously.

Nancy, my plants do the same thing yours are doing...One or two buds get ready and the others hold back while from blooming.

Heather here Kay but you can call me Hannah LOL ! , I was just wondering as our season is soooooo far behind. Again today we had a nasty cold north wind and the ground was cold when I tried to pull weeds. I finally gave up when my hands started to scream they were so cold. I am frustrated too with the cold rain we have been getting incessantly since the middle of March . Nothing is where it should be temperature wise and I should be seeing scapes starting but nope ....Just been too cold .

signet, My situation here in New Hampshire is basically the same as yours. We are expecting S-N-O-W overnight, mixing with sleet and rain. It is COLD, damp and gray. Everything is way behind what is usual here, which is always way behind what is usual for everyone else....lol. My daylilies don't usually even show scapes until June and don't bloom until July in a regular year. My peonies are just barely up 5 or 6 inches and daffodils and tulips are just starting to bloom.

Heather, I am going to do that...I like it it is my name for you...WE did have a cool morning today and another one tomorrow. but we will then resume the fast spin to summer here. Lots of rain. Lots of sun.I know you have to be frustrated. When we have a cool morning like today and the silly blooms sit around and refuse to open their petals right....Not Citrix or Pink Gingham, but the darker ones. I wonder how you mange to get such pretty blooms in cooler climates. Blees you Celeste. WE had no snow at all this year, but a few nasty hard freezes after very warms weeks at a time...The lilys hardly knew what to do and they were pretty hard hit. Some of them still look a bit ragged, but not many. I lost a couple late, but that is gardening, isn't it?
