Where do the doors lead to? Are you planning for upper cabs or are you doing all drawers in bases? How many people are in the kitchen at once? Are current utilities in the same places or are you budgeting for moving them?

Have you considered moving the sink in the 1/2 bath to the wall? It may feel more spacious for the bathroom go-er.

Also, have you considered making the island moveable? Three feet seems a little tight for some kitchen projects, especially if there are two people in the kitchen at once.

The door at the top leads to the backyard, the doors at the bottom lead to the dinning room (left door) and basement (right door). We were thinking pantry/floor-to-ceiling cabinets on the wall on the right and the bathroom wall. Ideally it would accommodate two of us cooking and our only child doing homework at the island. Utilities are moving and all the windows but the one in the bathroom can be moved. The doors need to stay where they are and we cannot remove the wall between the kitchen and dining room. The stupid columns need to stay put as does the size difference between the front and back.

As for making the island movable, can you do that with a sink and a dishwasher?

I don't think there is room for seating at the island but you could do a corner sink. With only 3 of you, a cab depth fridge would be helpful
