Pothos or philodendron, and what kind?

Hi there!

I'm a sucker for philodendron and pothos and just picked this one up today. The woman at the shop said it was a philodendron, but I wonder if it isn't actually a pothos. Would anyone happen to have a more specific ID? I've been trying through image search, but there are so many that are similar that I'm just not sure. Thanks for your help!

Hi daxeek,

Our growers have told me 'Glacier' is a variety they used to source from Europe --- it was open genetics, unlike the patented varieties we get from the University of Florid program. If you have documentation validating that 'Glacier' is a made up name for something and they were sold something incorrect by their suppliers, please let me know so we can look into this. If we are in error, then we'd like to correct it.

MoiraMains: Here at Costa Farms, we don't have a license to grow N'Joy, so that's not a variety we even have on the farm. As such, I don't have access to it for photography. You won't see any pictures of N'Joy on www.costafarms.com. Because we're a wholesale grower, we're not going to promote any varieties we don't grow.

By the way: I fully agree that the pictures you posted above look like Pearls and Jade.

I thought it might be that too, but all the photos I saw of pearls and jade were really white and one shade of green. This has multiple hues and actually has a bit of washed out appearance.

I have a pearls and jade and it looks just like the one I have. There is a pothos called Njoy but I don't see much difference between the two. Either way I think it is one of those two pothos. It does not look like any philodendron I have seen. Mine is really easy to take care of and grows more compact than the marble queen and Majula that I have. Maybe someone else has another opinion.

Ah, I'm glad you mention Njoy, because I saw that one was also very similar, which is why I'm still so unsure. For the pearls and jade, the few photos I saw were really green and white only, and mine has more colours. Perhaps Njoy then :)

Google gives mixed image results between these two varieties, and they're often mislabeled.

The difference between the two is that N'joy is the one with the stark white-and-green patches, while Pearls and Jade has more marbling/streaks like that of a Marble Queen.

I believe because of the heavier freckling and misshapen leaves on your plant, you have a Pearls and Jade!

Thank you so much for the detailed comparison. Yes, I think you are correct. Good call on the misshapen leaves! What made me most doubt the likelihood of pearls and jade was a blog post by Costa Farms detailing different kinds of pothos. The leaf they show for pearls and jade looks like the photo of the N'joy you posted. And the leaf that most resembled my plant was for a Manjula. N'joy wasn't even listed. That, and the woman at the shop said it was a philodendron. Another mystery solved!

Costa Farms is really out here spreading the most misinformation on Pothos varieties, I swear to God lol. I saw a guy here on Houzz from Costa Farms that was telling people that their Pearls and Jades were actually "Glacier" Pothos -- which isn't even a thing.

Just to tell you why I ruled out Manjula as well: Manjula has big, wide heart-shaped leaves (as opposed to Pearls and Jade, which has the small, irregularly-shaped leaves) with lots of marbling, and the leaves are typically edged with green patches, like so:
