So beautiful! I think it’s neat that DD is the first to bloom in your garden. ‘Rosie the Riveter’, it’s child, is the first to bloom in mine! You can see the resemblance, although Rosie is very orange today:

Distant Drums has a much more sophisticated palette, though. It’s lovely. Someday I need to get it.

Oh wow RtR looks sooooo good in those photos! I’ve been eyeing it at my local garden center. My problem is I have too many floribundas and grandifloras as it is.

DD is honestly the most vigorous in my garden aside from my monstrous David Austin royal jubilee. Which in now in its 2nd year is pushing 5ft.

Last year DD died down to ground level bc of the arctic blasts and was back to normal size and blooming before the others were even half as far along.

Ben I’m in the midwest, on the Illinois side of St. Louis. Does DD have a bad rap? I’ve only ever heard seen great things of it. It and Eden where the what got me into growing roses.

No, I think DD has a very good rep, I’ve just not seen the colors as vivid and distinct as on your plant. Your plant itself is just ideal too...dense, compact, healthy, loaded with bloom.

I love DD. I grow in it Dallas and I gave my Mom a plant she grows in Kansas City, Missouri. It’s been great in both places. I’m fond if it’s fragrance- some describe as myhrr.

Does anyone have both Distant Drums and Koko Loco, and how do they compare?

Well I want distant drums & koko loco, I have not been able to purchase potted ones locally yet. But one of the big rose growers/wholesalers in Ontario list both on their website, so being grown in zone 5/6 it must be vigorous to get through cold winters. I've seen it listed as a zone 4 rose sometimes. I would love to be able to grow both and give

If DD is vigorous for you, is it Own root or grafted?

I just bought DD and RtR. I paired them together. Hope they will look just as good someday.
