I have 3 and are in every condition going from some shade to dull sun. It will all give you different colors depending on the sunlight it is in. It is a very hardy and lovely hosta and all from the June family are equally as pretty too . If you get the chance to get First Frost and Touch of Class they really compliment the June

Mine laughs at the sun and looks great all season. It will survive and look good anywhere.

full sun in GA is a bit different than the same in WI ...

and that is why WWW answers are sketchy.. they dont tell you where they are either ... and tags arent any better ...

that said.. a hosta will actually grow faster.. and bigger in more sun ... the down side is... they can get ugly in later summer ... so if you plant it.. and it gets ugly.. just move it for net year ...

hosta sweat ... give off water.. so in hot sun .. they give off more.. than they can suck up ... ergo.. the leaves start showing damage ... aka... get ugly ... if that happens.. move it for next year ...

It all depends on your latitude. Full sun in Michigan is very different from full sun in South Carolina. Hosta 'June' can appear to be two different plants depending on the amount of sun. In the shade the center remains soft green, but with more sun it gets very yellow. BEST way is to get two plants! Plant one in shade and one in more sun. Fun to see the difference. Every plant I know likes morning sun, even here in CA.

Thanks Babka - that is just what I did got 2 plants. I potted both in larger pots & sunk the 1 in the ground where it will get morning sun. The other one I will be able to move around to see how it does in different exposures.

I am in SE PA zone 6b. Almosthooked I saw Touch of Class at store & really liked that one too!

Anxious to see how mine do.

i specifically avoided MI in my example ... its summer heat plus sun ... thats why i used WI or MN ... summer heat isnt as intense ... its easy for us to have 100 or so.. for a week or two in july or august ... that isnt hosta weather ... shade or not ...

but its all the same idea ...
