Sick Lickety split philodendron

I just purchased this lickety split philodendron at my sister’s college horticulture plant sale. I’ve watered it twice since bringing it home when the soul medium on top feel dry to the touch. It now has a couple of leaves which are yellowing and dark spotted. I do think it might need a bigger pot as one of the roots has climbed out and was trying to adhere to the outside of the pot. But I don’t think that would be the cause of the yellowing spotted leaves - or could it? My room is bright morning light but not hot or too direct.
