I wouldn't do laminate. I'd do luxury vinyl plank. It will hold up better.

We are taking out all existing laminate and replacing with Flooret Modin Rigid. Our “old” laminate in kitchen had water damage over the years and it was time for me to simplify with something I found would be lower maintenance. I know there are laminates that are water-resistant or “water-proof”but I personally was not sold on them.

Tile would not have worked with bad hip and knee.

I love hardwood, but what I would have wanted was way too expensive, and more care than I am willing or able to give.

We are very early in our install, but here are two pics of our floors. Don’t pay attention to wall-edge gaps, as these will be covered. We had issues with removing our hallway’s year-old baseboards so we are leaving some of them and will add new baseboards and shoe molding.
