Posting pictures on here.

I've read a lot of you are having difficulty posting pictures.

Yesterday I wanted to post some pictures of Danica Poul.

I typed in my text and loaded 3 pictures on.

Pressed next and the whole thing vanished.

Then and forgive this cos the brain ain't as young as it used to be, I remembered that when I posted Moonstruck a similar thing happened.

Second time around as I was reviewing my Moonstruck text the picture went from kind of washed out to full clarity as it should. I pressed next and wonder of wonders there it all was posted as it should be.

I repeated the operation with Danica Poul and waited.

Minutes later still washed out, felt like the whole thing had stalled or frozen but no I could still manipulate text or whatever.

I went away and got on with other things and after about 30 minutes two pictures were full clarity but one was still misty.

Another 10 minutes and one still misty so I deleted it and pressed next. Lo and behold there it was posted as you can view it today.

Two conclusions.

One, the pictures are not loaded for posting until they are sharp and bright.

Two if the amount of data ( and my pics are in high res ) exceeds the limit Houzz has put on then you could grow very old waiting for it to fully load.

One thing I didn't try was pressing next with the one misty unloaded pic on the post.

Would it have posted the text and loaded pics or would the whole lot vanish into the ether!

I would be interested to know if any of you have had the same experience.

I don‘t have the patience or the time to wait 30 minutes for a post to load. It’s another one of the changes Houzz made that make this forum less compelling than it used to be under Gardenweb.

Yes- it’s the same for me, Dave. I just wait until the photo is clear and then proceed. Sometimes it takes longer than others. And occasionally my entire post disappears, for no apparent reason.

sometimes I've lost entire posts..sometimes pics won't load - the green circle just goes endlessly..sometimes the typing malfunctions..even slowly typing one letter at a time doesn't work..now you know that you're not alone :-(

Houzz always says their site functions best with Chrome and to remove old cookies etc.. They will say make sure you have the latest version. Last time I had issues everything they suggested I said yes latest version, cache cleared etc. It is always our problem never theirs.

p.s. Resizing pics usually works but that is a pain when we are posting multiples. I started saving each post before clicking submit. It saved a lot of frustration.

Found it to be very frustrating as well. I use Chrome and all that, nope it is not better. Yes, entire post disappeared if one pic did not load.

I finally found out the same procedure but still takes forever to download picture At least you can add new photos and continue on until the ones have not finished Dave. I managed to get them all in the posting that I wanted and then went and cleaned my house to come back to them stating that I had 23 minutes before the posting would be deleted if not completed. Deleted and they gave me a timeline after I waited an hour. They seem to have less patience the I even have. I have high resolution on my pictures and they seem to go through now.. Finally after trying on this for the past two years. One would think they could explain the instructions that you have given seeing the are IN CHARGE . Wishing it was back to how it use to be before houzz

Sometimes if you post a bunch of pictures before and after it will nudge the reluctant photo. Other times nothing will work. It's a pain in the but.

Everything that has been mentioned has happened to me too. I also do what peren.all does if I think I have a lengthy post---save it first!

I also think smaller picture size will post quicker. If I know I am going to post the picture on this Forum, I can change the size of the photos I am taking on my camera phone. But I don't really like taking smaller sized photos because the quality of the photo is affected.

I take normal size pictures, but resize to approx 640x480 or 480x640 and save as another name if I email or upload. Original might be named pic010200 and resized is named pic010200r.

I've not had any delay posting pictures here on GW. (((Probably will now that I said that. )))
