Hi, thanks in advance. I just received two cornelian cherries and one actually arrived with a fruit, which I cut open when ripe. These "cherries" are like olives and have a white pit, which I did see after I cut it up some more, so those black things that look like seeds are NOT seeds.
Anyone have cornelian cherries, seen this before and know what pest laid those eggs?
When I called the nursery they were so busy they didn't even stop to listen and kept insisting the "bite" was natural, those are seeds and these trees don't ever get any pests and you'd need an entomologist to prove those are eggs ... Um, I made that cut, I saw the one "seed" and those black things aren't it and obviously SOMETHING got in there - it's not a spontaneous genetic mutation.
So I'm turning to the community for help - what laid those eggs?
