Is Core Values close to registered height? It looks good.

I have been trying to pick a favorite, or even 2 or 3, but I just can't. They all look just wonderful. If I HAD to pick, it might be the 1st one. I have a couple of new blooms today, but failed to get an early picture, probably don't look good by now and I am too lazy now to check.

Mantis - Some of the fans on Core Values are within an inch or two of the 30 inches of registered height, and some of them are short - 20 inches. I had a major invasion of June bugs last year,and I think the grubs must have eaten the roots on one side of the clump. It has multiplied very well for me - going from two fans to nine in three years. I like it a lot better than Dragonfly Dawn, which is similar.

Such lovely flowers. I too find it difficult to pick just one favorite today.

I never thought about June bug grubs eating roots. We have tons of them every summer. We have one peach tree that ripens its fruit at the time the June bugs are numerous. We never get any peaches from that tree, but they have a feast.

Hoosier Nancy - After June bug grubs ate 7 of my seedlings to death a year ago Spring, I took notice. Then I had swarms of them (hundreds) for three weeks in my front garden last June. One or two grubs can't take down a clump, but 20 of them can. I've been using Grub-Ex granules since then, but that stuff doesn't get all of them. I also have several bald patches in my front lawn as a result.

With temps like your having those blooms look amazingly wonderful. Sailing Into the Blue is one I would pick for here but with it being an EV, it will never survive here...sadly.

Julia - Sailing into the Blue multiplies well here, but the scapes are much shorter than registered. I doubt that it would fare well much farther north than here. I do love the look and color of the blooms. I dividied it last year, sold some. and then planted the two divisions that were left in different places to see if I could get taller and better budded scapes that way. The place I originally had it planted had daylilies with taller foliage around it, and it was too shaded. My temporary mower mowed down one of the clumps, and the other planted in a sheltered place next to the house isn't showing any improvement.

I like the colors on Sailing Into the Blue and Rings of Triton. These colors may be faded and they do in this heat but they still look good. And I know the frustration of dealing with insects!! My red bug Lopidea has been worse this year, decimating buds on many lilies.

Kate - The color on Sailing into the Blue is not faded, and I'm not sure about Rings of Triton since this is the first bloom in my garden. The Floyd Cove pic shows the petal color being darker. To the eye, the color was more of a pink lavender, so I think that one was faded a bit. Jungle Queen was so faded compared to what it normally shows that I didn't even photograph it.

Debra-sorry, my fault for the faded statement!! I was trying to catch up on all the posts and obviously pulled that comment from one you made on your Sunday bloom post! I remember thinking how great these looked if they were faded!! :) And also how mine are looking in this heat right now. Goodness, I look faded too after working in it for a while.

Rings of Triton catches my eye today.

As for grubs, when my daughter brings her dogs over, they go around the yard pulling up grubs and eating them. They are not allowed in the flower beds but I am thankful I've had no problem there. I was reminded of this when signet posted YUM above [for the flowers] and I was thinking yuk! [for the grubs]
