Hydrangea coming back to life, do I prune?

last modified: 7 years ago

Hey all, last summer I bought this beautiful hydrangea which I kept telling myself I was going to plant in my rear yard but never did left it in the container it originally came in..long story short, rough winter and the plant to me appeared to be practically dead. I was close to throwing it out but still had hope..and it's growing!

Since, the growth is coming from beneath should I just prune the dead stems off and can I plant this now in my soil or should I wait and leave it in the container ?
