My son's school had a lifesize paper mache elephant sculpture outside. It's being repaired. I can't see something like that doing well outside? No amount of clearcoat? I could be wrong. Moisture deteriorates it. I hope you find a way, he's cute!

Just apply more paper mache to fix any tears, etc. and repaint. And I also would not leave it outside, even with a sealer coat. Paper mache is just newspaper and a wallpaper-like paste....not gonna stand up well to any kind of weather!

Could a Quikcrete shell be applied to hold structure and then a polyurethane coating to repel moisture?

Your house other than the double front windows could have been mine before it was expanded. Bedrooms were added to the side opposite the garage so that they stick out and the door moved to that side which removed the second front window. It also has the original large picture window where your double hung ones are located.

New layers of fiberglass fiber tape such as boat repairs are done with?

New coating of troweled on "Bondo" such as car bodies are sometimes repaired with?

I agree that you would need to apply a water proof "shell"....several great suggestions have been offered.

maifleur, that is not my house. It is the house, where the elephant is hanging out, till someone "rescues" him.

Two ideas, both messy. I used to make stuff for our kids church out of what we dubbed "paint mache". Basically, soak strips of cloth in paint, then use like you would paper mache. The paint makes it more durable and able to withstand the elements.

Other option is similar, only use really watery cement and strips of cloth. The concrete (cement? whatever) makes it virtually indestructable.
