Sarah-Ann, I'm in Edmund at the moment.... went to the Rose gardens (what's left of them) at Woodward Park in Tulsa and hope to see some tomorrow at the Will Rogers Park's Rose Garden. Do you live near? Are there other close by? I love this part of the country! : ))

Thank you both! Right now I have my QS in a pot, hopefully by next year I can figure out where to put it. I’m really wanting to have a Kordes garden, with other very healthy roses too, hope I can make that dream happen. I hope we all find that Quicksilver is a great rose, I love what I’ve read and seen about it so far!

Vaporvac when you said “I’m in Edmond” didn’t realize you meant Edmond, Oklahoma! I live about 75-80 miles north of where you are right now, I’m about 60 miles west of Tulsa. I have two sisters who live in the Oklahoma City area and other relatives too. I have a brother in Tulsa and also other family. I hate to say it, but I’ve never even visited either Woodward Park or Will Rogers Park’s Rose Garden, but I would love to. I love this state, Do you have family here, or here for some other reason, if you don’t mind me asking? I hope everyone’s made you feel welcome, we’re usually a pretty friendly state. I know a few people from Ohio, and they’ve all been very likable.

Quicksilver is one of my desert island roses. Freshly opened, it satisfies those who appreciate the hybrid tea look, and fully open, it has an old fashioned form.

S-A, I'm here visiting in-laws for a birthday celebration. Anything for a party, but it's literally raining on our parade! ; (( Yesterday was beautiful, however. So the rose gardens were basically busts due to RRD. It's hit this area really hard and the Will Rogers rose park has been renamed a "color garden" where they use seasonal bedding plants if you can believe it.

The Woodward garden is a fantastic gem with gorgeous secret gardens and super helpful staff. Almost all 12,000 roses succumbed, but they are putting a useful spin on it using the space as a RRD test garden in conjunction with the local University and Tx A&M.. Unfortunately, not very promising results. There is one rose that looks great and it could be Top Gun since I've never seen it in bloom. The rose is a very attractive red, but no fragrance that I could discern. Honestly, I'd probably grow something else as main plants and grow a small group of roses rather than give up on fragrance. I can see how with no wind breaks and windy weather it's become such a scourge in this area. There were some lovely plantings of Austin roses that looked great! I was thrilled to ID all of them save one and am again so happy that I grow Scepter'd Isle. The fragrance on the established roses was exceptional with strong Ylang-Ylang. I'll post pics of that garden once my phone charges.

Sorry for the hijack!!! I strongly encourage everyone to visit their local and regional rose gardens.... it's the best way to see mature plants in action, and one never knows when they'll be gone. : ((

Oh Helen those pics make me very excited to see this rose bloom in my garden! It really does look like the best of both worlds - with the HT bud to old rose form.

Planted last year tremendous growth and abundant flowers. lovely color and lasts in Vase. This plant is probably 6-7 ft high and wide in one year. What’s not to love ❤️

Does anyone know how Quicksilver does with a bit of shade? I have a spot in my front yard that gets 4-6 hours of mid-day sun depending on the time of year, but is shaded by fences in the morning & late afternoon.

cyndita, QS is a very healthy rose so a bit of shade will be fine. From my experience with petal-packed blooms, more sun equals more flowers, less sun less flowers. Helen
