That makes me miss mine that died over winter. It does have a beautiful fragrance though. Which is one of the reasons I tried it; the other was the colour of the blooms. I may try again though & maybe put in a little effort to winter protect. I would be interested in a comparison report on grafted vs own root in a few months. Enjoy!

Oklahoma was my favorite hybrid tea back at the old place. The deep red richness of the blooms, their classic shape, and oh - the fragrance. Enjoy!

Thank you all! HalloBlondie, I’m interested in making a comparison too. I had already ordered an own root one, and hadn’t planned to get this one. I wanted to add Bride’s Dream rose to my Palatine order and gave them a call. The owner happened to answer. When I told him where I was from he started talking about this rose, it didn’t take a lot of convincing to make me want to try it on multiflora. He’s such a nice guy, and we had a good visit just talking roses.

I have seen and smelled containerized Oklahomas in big box garden centers in past years. It and Lavender Crush are the most impressive roses encountered in such a setting in recent memory.

Sara: are these your first Oklahomas? I ask because you live in Oklahoma. Do you worry about the RRD research, replete with breeding grounds, ongoing in your state? Especially as it is where "...the wind comes sweepin' down the plain". Though you do have the "wavin' wheat" which "can sure smell sweet", which must be more than ample compensation. That is, when the wind comes right behind the rain.

Sultry, I had 2 body bags from the kill rack this year that promptly died in my flowerbed instead of on the Lowe’s shelf.

I got a nice potted one from Walmart that I have kept alive so far.

Yes, the Oklahoma rose is the official State Flower of Oklahoma...only seems fitting that Sara-Ann should have such a nice one!

My absolute favorite red, such a dark beautiful color

Right now mine shatters pretty quickly and some blooms are balling

But, it is recently moved so hopefully she will shape because I am in love with her color

My red HTs are Firefighter, Veterans Honor and Mister Lincoln. Sometimes I think I should have done Oklahoma instead of Lincoln, the color is more interesting.
