Alpine ruby and bluebird clematis

These hardy clematis vines self seed all over the place and are quite a nuisance. But I’m enjoying this resulting combo that occurred.

Should I be pruning these vines back to the ground in the fall?

No, they are not hard prune varieties. None have seeded in my garden. : (

Just wondered if pruning them regularly would reduce the amount of self seeding considering it would remove some of the seed heads. I’m not exaggerating when I say they are all over.

Because these are early bloomers, if you prune them hard in the fall you may remove the flower buds. If you don’t want them seeding around, do some light pruning right after bloom to remove seed heads before they ripen. The current effect is lovely though. Like buyorsell, mine have not seeded in my garden.
